The haiku (俳句? [häikɯ]) is a type of poetic composition that originated in Japan in the 17th century. It is composed of three lines for a total of seventeen more (and not syllables, as commonly said), according to the 5/7/5 scheme, and always includes a word linked to a season (kigo).
